[B.A.T.M.A.N.] alfred packet types for node statistics?

i read about plans about using alfred for distributing detailed node statistics on the next "freifunk gluon" firmware release. that firmware is used by dozens of german communities and is batman-adv only.. we want to try to include that in our own firmware (we are still using "freifunk meshkit" with both olsr + batman-adv) is anyone involved and could send me more details? i only found http://gluon.readthedocs.org/en/v2014.3/features/announce.html#accessing-no… why datatype 158 and 159 is used? i think, that should be one of the registered numbers? -- --- Freifunk Leipzig http://leipzig.freifunk.net

i still have problems building batman-adv on openwrt BB release and with CC. its still 2014.02, also the official BB release is with this version. http://downloads.openwrt.org/barrier_breaker/14.07/ar71xx/generic/packages/… i saw that 2014.3 seems to be released in july? http://git.open-mesh.org/batman-adv.git/tag/refs/tags/v2014.3.0 are there worries about that version within openwrt, so we still shell use version 2014.2? or, should we better change to a nowadays trunk version of batman-adv, to avoid 2014-3 problems? see also: https://github.com/openwrt-routing/packages/tree/for-14.07 https://github.com/openwrt-routing/packages/ p.s. some weeks ago there was a thread about multicasting. and now, it seems that developers from "freifunk-gluon" communities have problems with that. maybe someone of you can help these guys please? https://github.com/freifunk-gluon/gluon/issues/198 -- --- Freifunk Leipzig http://leipzig.freifunk.net

mikrotik) Is anyone running/testing any mikrotik gear such as the rb911 or rb912, rb922, rb433, etc w/ openwrt and batman-adv? I'm considering a multi-radio mesh node and I think this platform might be priced well enough. I do fixed wireless broadband but am looking at reaching into some heavily wooded areas that nothing else can penetrate. The rb922 in particular has an 5Ghz 'ac radio and mini-pcie that can take a second 5Ghz 'ac radio. That makes for a really great dual 802.11'ac radio w/ gigabit port and PoE ethernet to run a cable into the customer's house. An RB433 can take 2 'ac radios and a 900Mhz radio which you could artificially increase the cost on for a lower throughput tree-penetrating backup link to be placed every x number of hops. The rb922 version would be a sub $200 high performance mesh node. alix) now, the alix apu1c is a 2 mini-pcie box with dual 1Ghz x86 CPUs ready to run debian and has 3 gigabit ethernet ports. This would be a nice 'edge' node with 1 or 2 of those gigabit ports dedicated to backhaul radios. *** So, the concept is that clients wouldn't actually be on wireless and batman-adv would just be handling distribution. Clients would be wired up ethernet to a PoE injector. This dual radio mesh should only add latency at each hop as a result, though the obvious link quality and capacity are taken into account. I can bring in 20-200Mbps of service but can't penetrate the trees for more than a few houses on the edge. I could do two links to reachable homes and have any number (throughput limited) of clients connect w/ the redundant path. Thoughts?

Due to a typ0 in an if-condition used in the gateway-client code it is possible to run in a NULL pointer dereference. At the same type the same if-condition is not clear. Fix this by rewriting the if-condition properly. [B.A.T.M.A.N.] IBSS key in batman-adv

Hi, I have a short question. I am using IBSS to create batman-adv mesh network. To secure the IBSS, i am using the IBSS key. I noticed that when i am on the mesh network, any device that is not having the key also can ping and iperf to me. I thought IBSS key is supposed to allow only legitimate device. Does anybody know where i do wrong here?. Rgds, Zack.

Since other network components (and some drivers) uses the control block provided in skb's, the network coding feature might wrongly assume that an SKB has been decoded, and thus not try to code it with another packet again. This happens for instance when batman-adv is running on a bridge device. Fix this by clearing the control block for every received SKB. The kernel used to contain two functions for length-delimited, case-insensitive string comparison, strnicmp with correct semantics and a slightly buggy strncasecmp. The latter is the POSIX name, so strnicmp was renamed to strncasecmp, and strnicmp made into a wrapper for the new strncasecmp to avoid breaking existing users. To allow the compat wrapper strnicmp to be removed at some point in the future, and to avoid the extra indirection cost, do s/strnicmp/strncasecmp/g.
