Anyone have any recommendations for a good dual radio mesh node for batman-adv that won't break the bank? I'm looking at having wired clients, but two mesh radios to keep throughput high. 802.11n radios also required. Thanks!

Has anyone looked into either a piece of hardware or a smarphone app that would allow for functionality similar to CB radios but over a wifi mesh fabric?

A miscounting of nodes having multicast optimizations enabled can lead to multicast packet loss in the following scenario: If the first OGM a node receives from another one has no multicast optimizations support (no multicast tvlv) then we are missing to increase the counter. This potentially leads to the wrong assumption that we could safely use multicast optimizations. Fixings this by increasing the counter if the initial OGM has the multicast TVLV unset, too. Hi Jammy, I can also confirm what Antonio replied. When I was building firmware for MESHdesk using the then trunk (Barrier Breaker) I nearly gave up on the Dragino hardware (AR9331) because the adhoc connections between nodes refused to connect beyond 1Mbps unless you restart the WiFi a one or more times. Other Atheros based hardware like the OM2P's did not have the same issue though. On advise from Steve Song (Village Telco) I tried Attitude Adjustment and all that problems disappeared and there is now proper speed between the adhoc connections. I haven't tried again on Barrier Breaker, but will probably in the near future do another attempt and see if the problem still exists now that it has been released. Cheers

hi I tested the throughput between point to point mesh nodes using single and 2 radios. 1. Using single radio (ch 5180) the resulting throughput for HT40+ TCP max 250mbit/s UDP - max 320mbit/s 2. Using 2 radios with and without batctl bonding enabled (ch 5180 for wlan0, ch 5785 for wlan1), the resulting throughput for HT40+ is same. with batctl bonding and fragmentation enabled I believed I should be getting 50% gain in througput. When I monitor the wlan0 and wlan1 interfaces using batctl tcpdump -p 4 wlanx I can see that iperf data are interleaved. There is no splitting of data frames into 2 wireless interfaces. Please advice Tq Syed

Hello, I am currently running some powerpc machines with buildroot environment. The Linux kernel version I am using is 3.8.13 and BATMAN-adv within the kernel without any modification. I am running interface alternating test with the topology below: A========B=========C There are two wireless links between A and B and two wireless links between B and C. The two wireless link is using two different channel and ESSID. TQ of the 4 links are vary from 250-255 at the initial state. I run udp iperf from A to C and observe tcpdump on node B for the two wireless interfaces (wlan0 and wlan1). I observed that interface alternation is not happening always. Sometime the route will be using wlan0 or wlan1 all the way from A to C, as we observed at node B, only 1 interface has traffic on tcpdump. Sometime when interface alternation happened, tcpdump for wlan0 and wlan1 will show traffic. I changed the topology to the below to test further: A---------------B=========C There is only 1 wireless link from A to B while there are two link from B to C. In this case, I observed that interface alternation will always happened, as I observed both wlan0 and wlan1 has traffic on tcpdump. Could you please explain to me what has caused interface alternation not happening in the 1st topology and why the interface alternation will always happen in the second topology. Hi all， Now i have build a mesh network with batman-adv routing algorithm（batman-adv-2014.2.0）and Linux 3.3.8. Each mesh node have one WiFi card which is configued to the adhoc mode （according to the suggestion of openmesh website）and 11A protocol. But the data rate between two mesh nodes is only 8Mbps，while if I configure the same WiFi card in mesh node to AP mode and client mode，the datarate between them can achive 40Mbps. I think the reason of the low data rate is caused by the adhoc mode（my wireless driver is ath9k，the datarate of adhoc mode is slower indeed） My questions are： 1. How can I raise the data rate to 30M+ if I use the adhoc mode？ 2. can I use the monitor mode of WiFi card with batman-adv？someone tells that it can be done，but when I batctl addif wlan0 （wlan0 is configured in monitor），it shows that interface type not support by batman-adv.
